Yuriy Gorodnichenko
Yuriy Gorodnichenko, a native of Ukraine, is the Quantedge Presidential Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his B.A. and M.A. from the EERC/Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv, Ukraine) and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
A substantial part of his research focuses on monetary policy (its effects, optimal design, and inflation targeting), fiscal policy (countercyclical measures and government spending multipliers), taxation (including tax evasion and inequality), economic growth (its long-run determinants, globalisation, innovation, and financial frictions), and business cycles.
Professor Gorodnichenko serves on numerous editorial boards, including the American Economic Review and VoxUkraine (voxukraine.org). He leads the CEPR’s Ukraine Initiative and is a prolific researcher whose work has been published in leading economics journals and widely cited in policy debates and the media. He has received numerous awards in recognition of his research contributions.
