
Şebnem Kalemli-Özcan
Economic PolicyWe are delighted to announce that Şebnem Kalemli-Özcan has been appointed Managing Editor of Economic Policy: Papers on European and Global Issues.
Şebnem is the Schreiber Family Professor of Economics at Brown University and Director of the Global Linkages Lab. She is currently Co-Editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics and serves on the economic advisory panels of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Bank for International Settlements.
Previously, she has held a number of distinguished positions, including:
- Duisenberg Fellow, European Central Bank
- Lead Economist, Middle East and North Africa Region, World Bank
- Houblon-Norman Fellow, Bank of England
- Senior Policy Advisor, International Monetary Fund
- International Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations (where she is also an elected member)
Şebnem is the first Turkish social scientist to receive the Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant (2008), awarded for her research on European financial integration and aimed at reversing brain drain.
Her research explores the impact of global trade and financial linkages on economic fluctuations and growth, bridging academic insights with pressing policy debates.
