Alejandro Werner

Alejandro Werner is the Founding Director of the Georgetown Americas Institute at Georgetown University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1994). From 2013 to 2021, he served as Director of the Western Hemisphere Department at the International Monetary Fund. Before joining the IMF, he held senior positions at Mexico’s Finance Ministry, the Bank of Mexico, and BBVA-Bancomer. His expertise spans monetary policy, financial crises, and fiscal policy in Latin America.
