Thomas M. Mertens is Senior Vice President and Associate Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Harvard University and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Bonn. His research focuses on international finance, monetary policy, and financial markets, and has been published in journals including the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Journal of Financial Economics.
